Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir
by Barlow, Frigeri, Scalf, et al
Star Wars: Darth Maul — Son of Dathomir is a four-issue canon comic miniseries published in 2014, adapting unproduced scripts from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The story continues Darth Maul’s journey after he survived the events of The Phantom Menace and follows directly from his appearances in The Clone Wars episodes Witches of the Mist and The Lawless. Captured by his former master, Darth Sidious, Maul becomes a pawn in Sidious’s plan to draw out his mother, Mother Talzin, leader of the Nightsisters, whom Sidious sees as a threat to Sith domination of the galaxy. Determined to exact revenge, Maul confronts the Separatist forces, ultimately capturing both Count Dooku and General Grievous. His actions draw the attention of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order, who intervene to stop Maul while also hoping to defeat Dooku and Grievous, potentially ending the ongoing Clone Wars. The series explores Maul’s complex motivations, his relationship with his mother, and his struggle against his former master, expanding the lore of the Sith and the larger war between the Republic and the Separatists.
